Analysis of the BSCR ratios of 150 insurance and reinsurance firms in Bermuda as published in their 2023 Financial Condition Report (FCR).
The chart below shows the distribution across the sample based on insurance class designated by the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA).
The histogram shows that most firms reported ratios of 100% to 300%.
Comparing data for 119 firms that reported the BSCR ratios in both 2022 and 2023 shows the distribution has remained mostly unchanged.
About the data:
The Financial Condition Reports used in this analysis were obtained by Solvency II Wire Data and are available to subscribers of the Bermuda Insurance Database. The database includes filters as well as full text search of the FCRs and financial statments of over 400 Bermudian insurance and reinsurance firms.
