Press Release: Solvency II Wire and Thomson Reuters announce collaboration on tracking Solvency II implementation across Europe

Solvency II Wire enhances coverage of Solvency II implementation

LONDON 16 JULY 2015 – Solvency II Wire, a leading independent publication dedicated to Solvency II, and Thomson Reuters, the world’s leading source of intelligent information for businesses and professionals, today announce the launch of a collaboration to help deliver detailed information about the state of implementation of the Solvency II insurance Directive across Europe.

Gideon Benari, Editor, Solvency II Wire, said: “We are delighted to work with Thomson Reuters and build on our existing initiatives of tracking the implementation of Solvency II. This collaboration will provide valuable information from the industry, which combined with the regulators’ perspective will deliver a broader and more well-rounded picture of the state of implementation across Europe.”

In addition to its in-depth coverage of the Directive, Solvency II Wire provides a number of resources for tracking the state of implementation, such as the Solvency II Interactive Implementation Map and the Solvency II Regulatory Updates Feed.

Thomson Reuters has developed an online diagnostic tool to help undertakings assess their ability to meet or help their customers meet Solvency II requirements. Aggregated and anonymised information collected by the tool will be shared with Solvency II Wire to enrich the site’s coverage of Solvency II implementation.

Tim Lind, global head of Financial Regulation Solutions at Thomson Reuters, said: “As Solvency II requirements become increasingly complex and demanding, we continue to work closely with our clients and industry experts to develop offerings to help them better meet their evolving regulatory and operational obligations. This tool will aid practitioners in better addressing their state of readiness for Solvency II and is a valuable informational tool.”

Mr Benari added: “In the run up to the 2016 implementation deadline Solvency II is becoming a growing factor in the business decision and planning of insurance firms. Given the scope of the Directive, understanding how it is being implemented across Europe is vital not only for European insurers and related industries but for those doing business with European firms.”
